That day
And it's not that, right on that day,
I, who have rhymes for everything,
As I looked at you closely, I was mute,
Not knowing how you felt?
You're a phenomenon of nature,
Your sweet look, and the smooth glow
From the lips that surround your smile:
Storm of grace and beauty.
I know, though: you're not for me.
To love you is a delight, and it is a burden:
You're another bard's captive muse,
Distance, loneliness, foul. The end.
But poems tell the unsaid:
My heart still eludes
And I still read you often,
In thunder where I no longer live.
And it's not that since that day,
My life has been seeking
Fragments of this look in your eyes
Smiling in a poetry?...
