Pelé, 999
I'm coming back slowly. Today, another $1.00 text.
It's still fantastic realism, but the premise is: What if Pelé, the greatest athlete of all time, had never made the unimaginable thousandth goal? How would he be treated by Brazilians?
This text was originally created when the King was still alive. The idea here is a great "What if?", trying to imagine something like a Butterfly Effect in the history of football. So, dear readers, this story talks about football, but it's NOT ABOUT FUTEBOL.
The events narrated until the match of the thousandth (on November 19, 1969, in the match against Vasco da Gama in Maracanã) are real. The players and leaders mentioned existed. the results of the games so far are true. The story is like a Harry Potter: London is real, trains are real, London buses and telephone booths are like that and the lives of citizens are the same. The fact that there's a magical witch in the middle of all this doesn't make the whole less real.
Enjoy the misfortune of the human soul. That's football.
