The last promise
Your face is the last thing I see,
Every night,
After my eyes close.
And it's also the first thing I see,
Every morning,
Still on watch.
It's a face almost unknown,
Sculpted by my memory
Through words and rhymes;
Burilado with esmeral
Through poetry.
It's a beautiful face that brings me peace,
In the eyes I imagine are tender and almonds,
On the lips I imagine are big and warm
The smile I imagine it to me.
But tomorrow,
I want to wake up.
I want to wash my face and soul
And keep the memories well stored,
Along with dreams never fulfilled.
Tomorrow, the first face I see
It'll be mine,
With my best smile
And my look of satisfaction.
You? You'll get on with your life
– And you'll go on in mine,
Like that locked door
That I had the respect not to break in.
Because I'm a lord. I always have been.
Don't break in without a license.
There have been too many "nos"
So I think I should insist.
There have been many centuries of silence,
I was trying to break.
There have been warnings and requests to move away
Not to insist.
To think about it
To leave it alone.
There is a time when the only thing we need to understand
That's what's being told out loud, not between the lines.
Just promise me one thing:
Take good care of this wonder
Beautiful and blonde that's you.
Because one day, if the scar closes,
If it stops hurting,
If the heart is stronger,
I'll want to meet you again,
And I want to see you
Spectacular
That's amazing.
Irresistible.
To remember and know
That I didn't love any,
And that it really was
Too much petulance on my part.
To think you'd deserve someone like that.
