You don't deserve a poem
(014 of 365)
You don't deserve a poem;
No word in the world can give
The real dimension of your greatness;
The true description of your beauty:
You are beautiful only in your skin as fresh as morning.
Expire joy and peace for all pores,
And your smile contained in the corner of thick lips,
And your soft look, and your big, serene eyes
They speak to me in soul more than any oath of love.
So you don't deserve a poem;
Any poem this fool troubadour could write,
As perfect as it was,
It would be a brutal offense to your simpleness,
To your grace.
You're divine, you're much more than
Human wisdom can define.
You don't deserve a poem, Love.
You deserve much more than that: You deserve a love,
That's the best way man's found
To say, “Thank you so much for existing”
And that, too, is the only feeling
Truly worthy to dwell in your breast.
You don't deserve poems;
And he doesn't need them; you're too high
You are more than any poetry; you are a prayer
That it is for me, poor mortal, to repeat only in litany:
You are par excellence, lady of all the hearts of the world
At the same time that you're so simple, so pure,
Like a child in his innocence, just like a flower.
You don't deserve poetry;
You deserve to be happy; you deserve to love
You deserve that Creation itself bows before your feet
To revere thee with emotion and to bless thee.
You deserve the very life that emanates from your gaze
Be your slave, your nanny, doing her bidding.
You deserve someone to make you happy
You deserve someone who feels you in the skin, who makes you feel alive.
You deserve more than words, more than gestures of affection:
You deserve a sincere love.
Like me.
