The Flowers
(016 of 365)
I
Flowers that bloom,
As life rises,
And in buttons that, upon appearing,
In time, they unscrew;
How to take advantage
Of such lovely maids:
Offering to the beloved,
Enchanting your homes.
Giving the master, tenderly,
Kicking you in one piece,
♪ Picking you from the hard land ♪
Who presents us only with you;
Only in you do we see sweetness:
You're blood from our veins.
II
Flowers, what evil are born
When Life Expires
On this one, they come to land,
As if death saluted.
Morbid, the veiled body
By the gloomy and foolish eyes,
In a tetric solace,
Your presence at your side.
And in the wilting of loves,
That immortal incense
Who adorn our pains;
That fatal memory
It comes from you, O beautiful flowers
Of funeral perfume.
(Two sonnets, for life and death)
