Eclipses of a Passion
(Whispers to Night Goddess)
I still don't know if you're the moon, unreachable, or the perfect poem, something that I have inside me, but that I can't get out. Maybe your name is just "Inspiration." Anyway, it's you this poem was made.
I've never seen you, but I've seen what's beautiful and valuable about you. Difficult times for both; mutual need embracing in the midst of the storm.
And suddenly, we start communicating in a language that's our own.
Writing is a gesture of deep surrender — a way to let the other live within our mind.
I don't know if the poem redeems us, but I know he needed to exist.
Because you exist.
And what I feel too.
I don't write poems — I write both of us.
The body confirmed what the poems only risked whispering.
Without touching your skin, I touched parts of you that might not even have left exposed yourself.
You saw beauty where I only saw the draft.
You read between the lines I didn't even know you wrote.
And so, in the silence of every dawn and in the heat of every provocation, something was born.
Something real.
Poetry in living flesh.
Millions of words said in silence.
Oh, the silence!
Silence is also a love letter.
Maybe the hardest one to write.
We still talk — only now the verses scream.
Poems are the hands you don't touch anymore.
The words, the eyes they avoid... But they keep seeing.
Would you love me in silence? In sickness?
In day-to-day tiredness?
The smell of the other one after ten years, not the perfume of the first night?
At times when there's no "chemistry" or "affinity"?
Chemistry is not sex.
That's when the look says "I understand you" before any word.
That's when the "can't" becomes "can't help it."
It's when the body is asking for what the mind has already allowed.
And here we are: one of those stories that are born to become literature.
Not because it's invented —
But because it's too intense to fit just in real life.
Maybe what we need most is not a rush, but time.
How much?
I don't know.
I know how I feel.
I know what I want.
I know what I can do.
And when the different knowledge points to different directions...
No rush.
Ah, the Time!...
Prolonged agony to the eternal.
Answer already given, but not consummated.
A soul torn apart by knowing that one cannot charge for a decision — but that one dies every day without it.
It's all been said, but maybe it still needs to be assimilated.
How many times can we change our minds?
Every time necessary.
Let you know that choices from the past can be reviewed.
That the decision will always be yours.
That your commitment is to your own happiness, not to the happiness of others.
But for once, you know that you were loved by someone who saw who you are — inside and out.
Gently.
With desire.
With everything that's sincere about me.
