Poured nanking on the sheet
Or it was my tear,
My carnival fiend?
I, who am opposed to time itself,
Contrary to my smile,
Small.
Empty.
Poured nanking on the sheet,
My watercolored blood
From life in black and white -
- the sounds of my secret:
"I'm afraid to die
By my own hands"
God has saved me so many times
That I became grateful to the angels
And to all holy beings
Of all the creeds of the world
I pray to whoever's there
Offering me attention.

Lorena, the protagonist of my tale Restos, is a woman marked by violent losses. So you don't give yourself away easily. That's why, in her view, the biggest betrayal is mistrust. Lorena is, in this section, a bit of Capitu's response. And all of us. It's our refusal to eavesdrop on each other, because we don't want to be invaded either. But, well, that's just a clipping. Lorena is more than that. When I make the tale available, I'd love to be read by you.
I finished my fourth story. Trech down. It's called Remains. He's the first one I ever wrote in the first person. A big challenge.
I've still got a lot to review.
I've still got a lot to review.
Sometimes in writing, I make a path that seems to be reversed. Instead of searching first, I write freely. Then I start the research process and adjust the details of the story to the more concrete reality. I think this works because I work more with the psychological of the characters and with a freer flow of writing. How does your process work?

Writing first person is challenging for me. My protagonist is an arrogant woman, somewhat elitist, has unmistakable thoughts. She's a trauma survivor who hardened to move on. It's tempting to use words in her voice to redeem her. I fear you may think that I agree with the thoughts it expresses. Writing in first person is exposing a character to the risk of being hated. Inside, we have shadows. I'm loving the experience. Lorena is a character in my newest short story series that I'm writing. I'll talk more about her soon.
My new tale is called Remains.
It will be the first narrated in the first person and I will need to engage more, because I find this kind of narrative difficult. It is fundamental, in these cases, that we separate the narrator from who we are. Lorena can't be Carla.
I'll tell you more about the story later.
What about you? How is your experience in choosing the narrator?
In the picture, a trick!

Another love from a wonderful beta reader, Fran. About my tale "Mutilated dogs can't complain."
